How to Sync Long-Distance Sex Toys For Shared Play

What does it actually mean to use a sync sex toy with a partner? If you’re new to smart sex toys, or even if you’ve used app-controlled ones before, the idea of “syncing” can be confusing. Some toys truly respond to each other’s movements. Others don’t.

And, a lot of people assume they all work the same way when they really dont.

This guide focuses on syncing within the Lovense ecosystem. We’ll walk through how motion-based syncing works, which toys support it, and why some pairings feel more interactive than others. After that, we’ll look at practical ways to create a shared-play experience when full motion sync isn’t available, without pretending all toys work the same way.

Simple Glossary So You’re Not Confused

This is the widest category. Remote control sex toys are any toys you control using something outside the toy itself. That can be a physical remote with buttons, dials, or plus and minus controls, or it can be software like a phone app or computer program. Cheap toys with simple remotes and high-end smart toys both fall under this term. The key point is that control comes from a separate device, not just touching the toy directly.

Teledildonics is the technical term for using digital technology to control sex toys remotely. It covers Bluetooth, app control, internet-based control, and connected toy experiences between partners. Most modern smart sex toys fall under teledildonics in some way. It describes the connection, not how advanced or interactive the toy feels.

These are remote control sex toys that use an app instead of a basic button remote. An app gives you more options, like patterns, sliders, syncing, sharing control, or connecting over the internet. Because apps run on smartphones or computers, they allow much more complex control than physical remotes ever could.

Long-distance sex toys aren’t a separate category of product. They’re app-controlled sex toys being used over the internet so someone else can control them from another location. Same toy, same app, just used at a distance. This is where accounts, chats, and shared control sessions come into play.

Haptic feedback is what allows a toy to sense physical movement, pressure, or motion during use. Instead of only responding to buttons or app commands, the toy can detect what the user is actually doing. This is the piece that makes motion-based interaction possible, and it’s not built into every toy.

Toy Sync is a specific feature within teledildonics that uses haptic feedback. With Toy Sync, one toy’s physical movement, like thrust speed, automatically affects what another toy does. This happens without someone constantly tapping a screen. It’s more advanced than basic remote control and only works with toys designed to sense and transmit motion correctly.

Motion-Based Toy Sync and Two-Way Control Explained

Motion-based Toy Sync isn’t something every smart sex toy can do, even if it connects to an app. It depends on how it was designed, meaning the toy can sense movement and turn that movement into data. That data is what allows one toy to affect another automatically.

Here’s the important part, stripped down:

  • In Lovense: Solace, Solace Pro, Max 2, Mission 2, and Nora are built to sense movement
  • These toys can act as the controlling toy in a sync setup
  • Any other Lovense toy can react, but cannot send motion back
  • Two-way sync only works when both partners are using controller-capable toys

If only one partner is using a controller-capable toy, syncing is one-way. That toy leads, the other reacts. It can still feel very connected, but the movement only travels in a single direction. When both partners are using toys that can sense motion, syncing can be one or two ways (see examples later).

That’s the foundation of motion-based Toy Sync. Everything else either builds on this.

Toy Sync lets you connect your toy with your partner’s toy so they can be controlled together, even from a distance. When compatible toys are paired, you can decide which direction the data/control flows.

  1. Open the Lovense Remote app
  2. Log in to your account. Both you and your partner must be logged in for syncing to work.
  3. Connect both toys inside Lovense Remote
  4. Make sure each toy is connected directly in the Lovense Remote app. Do not connect toys through your phone’s Bluetooth settings)
  5. Go to the Long Distance tab
  6. Open the chat with the partner you want to sync with.
  7. If they aren’t listed, tap the + icon and send a friend request first.
  8. Send a Sync request
  9. Tap Sync in the chat window.
  10. Once your partner accepts, the toys are synced together.
  11. Control the synced toys

The great thing about the 5 sex sync toys is that there are no set gender/sex pairings. You can use a Max 2 with a Nora, or Nora/Nora, or Max 2/Max 2.

Same for the other ones, which is great because it covers all kinds of relationships. But it won’t cover things that need three or more toys to react at once – that is better for one-way control instead.

  • Make sure that you and your partner have connected Max/Max 2/Nora.
  • When your toys are synced, tap “Remote Control” to switch to “Long Distance Sex” mode.
  • Tap
to transfer control to your partner.
  • Tap
to make it work both ways – Yes it can work both ways!
  • Move the pink ball on a sensitivity slider to change how sensitive your own toy’s reactions are.
  • Tap “Long Distance Sex” to get back to Remote Control mode and to control both toys with the panel.

After syncing, you can:

  • Activate vibration/rotations/contractions depending on the toy
  • Pass control to your partner
  • Control both toys using vibration patterns
  • Using Long Distance Sex Mode (Two-Way Sync)

Other Ways To Sync with Each Other

You don’t need two sync toys to play together. As long as one partner is using a sync-capable toy, it can control any other Lovense toy, even ones without motion sync.

For example, a Max 2 can control an Edge 2, or a Nora can control Ferri or Lush 4. The movement only flows one way, but it still opens up a lot more pairing options.

Depending on what toys you already have, there are a couple of easy ways to get close without changing your setup.

If you already own one sync-capable toy

  • Use that toy as the lead
  • Let it control the other toy through one-way sync
  • Movement only goes in one direction, but it still feels coordinated

If neither of you is using a sync-capable toy

  • Control each other’s toys through the app
  • Stay connected through chat, voice, or video
  • Use simple cues like “go faster,” “slow down,” or “keep that pace”
  • It’s manual, but good communication makes it feel surprisingly close

It’s not true motion feedback, but with the right timing and a bit of talking, it still creates a shared rhythm that works for a lot of people.

Syncing Solo

Did you know that you don’t need a partner to play with sync options? For example, you can use a Max 2 for masturbation, but also wearan Edge 2 prostate massager. The motions of the stroker will make the other toy vibrate. Another pairing could be Nora or Mission 2 with Gemini or Hush 2.

Troubleshooting Syncing Problems With Lovense Toys

Problem: Toys won’t sync or the Sync button does nothing
Fix: Make sure both toys are connected inside the Lovense Remote app, not through your phone’s Bluetooth settings. If you paired the toy in Bluetooth, unpair it there first, then reconnect only in the app.

Problem: Sync worked once, then stopped working
Fix: Restart Bluetooth and fully close the Lovense Remote app. Reopen the app, reconnect the toy, and resend the Sync request. If that doesn’t help, restart your phone.

Problem: Toys disconnect randomly during play
Fix: Check distance and interference (if it’s Bluetooth play and the person is near you). Keep your phone closer to the toy and avoid barriers like thick clothing, bedding, or furniture. Turn off other nearby Bluetooth devices like headphones or speakers.

Problem: Sync request won’t send or won’t be received
Fix: Remove your partner from the Long Distance contacts list, re-add them, and resend the Sync request. Both users must be logged in and online for this to work.

Problem: Long Distance Sex mode is missing or unavailable
Fix: Confirm that both partners are using compatible toys (Max, Max 2, or Nora). This mode won’t appear unless both toys support motion-based syncing and are already synced.

Problem: Movement syncing feels weak or delayed
Fix: Increase the sensitivity slider in Long Distance Sex mode. Also, check internet stability on both sides. Weak Wi-Fi or unstable mobile data can cause lag, even if Bluetooth is fine.

Problem: Toys connect but don’t react to movement
Fix: Make sure you’re in Long Distance Sex mode, not standard Remote Control. Remote Control uses manual input only and won’t trigger motion reactions.

Problem: App behaves oddly or features are missing
Fix: Update the Lovense Remote app to the latest version. Older app versions can cause sync bugs or missing options.

Problem: Nothing works after trying all fixes
Fix: Contact Lovense Support. Persistent sync failures may require account or hardware troubleshooting that only support can resolve.

FAQ: Sex Toy Sync With Lovense

Why does the Lovense app ask for Location permission if we’re playing online?

This one throws a lot of people off. On most phones, especially Android, Bluetooth scanning is tied to Location permission at the system level. The app isn’t tracking where you are for fun. It needs Location enabled so your phone is allowed to find and connect to nearby Bluetooth devices, even if the actual play is happening over the internet.

Why do we still need Bluetooth if control is happening long-distance?

Because there are two connections happening at the same time. The internet connects you to your partner. Bluetooth connects your phone to your toy. Even in long-distance play, your phone still talks to the toy locally, then passes control back and forth online.

Can any two Lovense toys sync together?

They can be connected and controlled together in the app, but that doesn’t always mean motion-based syncing. True Toy Sync, where movement drives reactions, only works with specific toys. Other toys can still be part of shared play, they just won’t react to movement automatically.

Do both partners need accounts and the app installed?

Yes. Each person needs the Lovense Remote app and their own account.

Syncing, long-distance control, and shared sessions all rely on both sides being logged in and connected properly.
